Many might think that a stay-at-home mom isn’t a job, but trust me when I say it is one of the most difficult jobs you will ever come across. Ever since I can remember, I wake up to the sound of my alarm and I’m ready for the day even before the sun comes up. My daily routine has barely changed over the years and from the moment I wake my kids until they go to bed, the day will be difficult. But just like every day, I am ready for it.

Household work is perhaps the most challenging form of work and some times it’s a thankless job. From ensuring that my kids have done their home work to getting my husband’s tie knot right, my work is diverse and endless.

And in the middle of all this, I wonder how none of this work is actually focussed on me. Of course ensuring the well being of my family is of utmost importance to me but do I not deserve some time for myself? A day where I read my favourite book, watch movies, cook my favourite meal and maybe go out and hang out with some friends. Or a day where I head to the spa and pamper my skin to the goodness of some therapy.

Just like me, there are countless other stay-at-home moms who go through a day just as difficult as mine. But being moms, we somehow find the strength to make it through the day. Taking care of our family and home is always our first priority but we ignore ourselves.

I guess that’s what Women’s Day is for, a day dedicated to women to pursue all the things they love. To spend a day with themselves away from the monotony of the regular routine.

So this Women’s Day, take a break and put yourself first. Wishing you a happy women’s day in advance!
